CHOOSING A PHOTOGRAPHER

When choosing a photographer & videographer it is important to adknowledge and abide by some basic and important guidelines that will ensure a lucid and professional photo & video that will last you a lifetime

Do you shoot film or digital?
AJ Creative shoots primarily digital photography. Although we can shoot film if required,
digital has many advantages over film. Digital provides immediate image feedback, and
facilitates better use of time and resources on-site, where we can provide live images to
art directors or our corporate communications clients via monitor, when tethered to the
camera. Digital photography also makes possible the immediate application of image
corrections or modifications.

Digital files have also eliminated the inherent dilemma of deteriorating image quality
through generational duplication, losses that occur when a film image is duplicated,
then future copies are made from that copy. This is especially true of dupe transparencies. With digital files, generational quality loss is a thing of the past, as all copies are essentially perfect duplications of the original.

Another significant benefit to shooting digital is the elimination of the costly and
lengthy process of producing color separations; digital files can be delivered
directly to our clients or their pre-press professionals.

AJ Creative has been leveraging the flexibility and image quality of digital photography since 2002, and we've worked with film images in professional digital post-production since 2000.

What cameras do you use?
AJ Creative utilizes state-of-the-art full-chip CMOS DSLR cameras and image stabilizing
lenses that yield outstanding professional-quality large digital image files. Should your
specifications require even greater image size or extra resolution, we're also equipped
with a 6x7cm medium-format camera system.

What is "digital post-production?"
Digital post-production is the process of converting captured RAW file-format images which offer extensive post-production flexibility into professional, high-quality final images. The digital RAW file can be likened to a traditional film negative; all the image's original ("raw") data is captured there permanently, and changes to that negative or RAW file take place in later processes. By capturing RAW files, Kelly/Mooney Photography can choose color space, white balance and, to some extent, exposure value (ISO setting) after the capture via appropriate image-processing software (hence post-production).

AJ Creative's digital post-production workflow involves downloading images, creating
redundant backups, image editing, batch renaming with appropriate filenames, embedding relevant project metadata (i.e. copyrights, descriptive keywords, etc.) and more. Edited selections are then uploaded to a gallery for client review at a private webpage.

Do you work on-location or in-studio?
The AJ Creative  team has worked on locations worldwide since 1985. We're professional
photography location experts, fully equipped to bring the studio to you. If your project
requires a studio, we arrange for the appropriate facility for only the time needed a studio is just another location!

How do you approach a project?
The AJ Creative  team assesses each job individually to determine whether we are both
needed on the location most projects benefit from our team approach. While only one of
us may actually be shooting, the other performs supporting tasks that streamline the
process and improve your photography experience. Video production is always handled
as a team effort. And AJ Creative  can facilitate both your video and still photography needs.

Do you author DVDs?
Yes. We can record your video to any tape format, or to DVD including the creation of
custom menus and chapter stops.

What editing facilities do you use?
AJ Creative  uses state-of-the-art Pinnacle Pro One & Video Toaster editing suites,
powered by robust Intel Xeon Dual Processor. Adobe Premier 6.5, Adobe Premier Pro,
Adibe After Effects together with Canopus Software System is our preferred non-linear
editing system.

How do you handle production details?
